Gunmen kill 2 captives in Lanao del Norte in S.Philippines

COTABATO CITY, the Philippines, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Gunmen killed two captives they seized last week in the province of Lanao del Norte in Southern Philippines, local military said Monday.

After firing dozens of rounds at police officers during a rush- hour shootout, Christopher "C.C." White had just a few bullets left in his assault rifle.

A gunman entered a city home, but the occupants managed to take his rifle and detain him until police arrived, police said.

Francisco Camacho-Otero, 29, of Maryland, entered the home at 422 S. Prince St. without permission at about 1:42 a.m. Monday, police said. He was "hanging out" with the residents there earlier in the evening but had left.

When he returned, Camacho-Otero started causing trouble and refused to leave, police said. Two men in the home, 25 and 30 years old, struggled to push him out the door.

Male infertility cases are on the rise in Bangalore, and doctors say this is mainly because of the tendency of men to keep standing for long hours.

Over 40% cases of male infertility were due to a condition called varicocele, caused by the swelling of blood vessels in the testicles, city urologists and andrologists said.

"This condition damages the testes, causing infertility," Dr Girish G Nelivigi, consultant urologist, RG Stone Urology and Laproscopy Hospital, said. He sees about seven to eight cases of male infertility due to varicocele every month.

The other cause of male infertility was blockage in the path of the sperms' passage from the testes to urethra. Infections, trauma and tuberculosis were some of the main reasons for such blockage, which was responsible for about 5% of male infertility cases, Dr Nelivigi said. There has not been any authoritative study, but doctors said in about 50% of infertility cases, the problem lay with the male partner.

THE trial of two men accused of causing the death of a tourist at a Newquay hotel is due to start this week.

Contractors Jonathan Mark Mingo, 36, and Phillip David Hodge, 48, are charged with the manslaughter of Frederick Jackson, 52, a father- of-two from Llanelli, South Wales.
